Vous êtes ingénieur de son, pourquoi avoir choisi ce métier et pas un autre ?
Je suis ingénieur du son. Ce choix était la volonté de Dieu par le biais de ma belle-sœur qui travaillait déjà à l’IAD (Industrie africaine du disque).
Avez-vous été inspiré par quelqu’un ?
Oui par Martin Bakala, l’un des premiers ingénieurs de son du Congo à l’IAD. Il était devenu mon idole.
Parlez-nous de vos débuts à l’industrie africaine de disque, l’un des meilleurs studios d’enregistrement d’Afrique, d’il y a quelques décennies.
J’étais embauché comme électricien et vu le volume du travail qu’avait Martin Bakala, seul ingénieur, la direction de la société avait demandé à madame Niemet qui gérait la duplication des cassettes de trouver quelqu’un qui devrait travailler avec l’ingénieur du son. J’avais été proposé par madame Niemet.
Vous êtes tour à tour assistant de Martin Bakala puis collaborateur de Freddy Kebano, deux grands de la musique congolaise ; quels souvenirs gardez-vous d’eux ?
De ma collaboration avec ces deux maîtres, j’ai gardé de très bons souvenirs professionnels.
De 1994 à 1998, vous êtes le seul ingénieur de son à la SNIAD (Industrie Africaine du Disque), pourquoi cela ?
Dans le temps la SNIAD était une grande société et après le départ de Martin Bakala en 1993, la direction avait pensé me former afin que je le remplace.
Quels sont les grands succès réalisés durant cette époque ?
Ma chance c’est d’être celui qui a participé aux enregistrements de la jeune musique congolaise après un grand vide. Je citerais, Extra Musica, Patrouille des Stars, Nouvelle Série, Pape God, 
Watikania et bien d’autres parmi lesquels : Magie (Koffi Olomide), 
Maman (Papa Wemba), Mokili échangé remix (Dindo Yongo), Cabinet Molili (Bana Ok). 
La destruction de ce joyau (la SNIAD) lors des affrontements entre l’armée et les miliciens ninjas en 1998, vous a-t-elle affecté ?

Comment s’est déroulée la suite de votre carrière après cette désolation ?
Il fallait regarder ailleurs et en ce temps les homes studio n’existaient presque pas donc je me suis lancé dans le son spectacle.
Quelle est la différence entre la prise de son en studio et le son spectacle?
Le spectacle est vivant et demande beaucoup d’attention parce que on y revient plus par contre la prise de son studio à plusieurs possibilités de retouche.
Vous êtes le seul ingénieur du son congolais à avoir reçu le tam-tam d’or, quelles sont impressions ?
Mes impressions ne sauraient être que de joie parce que jusqu’à aujourd’hui personne n’a eu ce prix d’où sa suppression par l’organisateur de l’événement.
La culture au Congo est-elle valorisée selon vous ?
Oui et non mais mal utilisée.
Pourquoi notre musique ne parvient-elle plus à percer sur le plan international ?
Le numérique est tellement vite parti, elle n’a pas su s’adapter à temps. Mais cela est aussi lié au manque de structures et de producteurs.
Que peut-on faire pour qu’elle reprenne ses lettres de noblesse d’antan ?
Il faut revenir sur des bonnes bases artistiques pour les artistes, des formations pour les opérateurs son des homes studio et enfin un grand soutien financier.
De toutes vos collaborations avec différents artistes musiciens, lequel, vous aura le plus marqué et pourquoi ?
Celui qui m’a plus marqué c’est Koffi Olomidé. Pendant les prises de voix de l’album Magie, il m’avait appris une nouvelle technique de prise de son des voix chœurs.
