ERIC CAPO-CHICHI – Un monde aux ouvertures immenses
Éric David Capo-Chichi est Franco-Béninois de la diaspora africaine de France. Très tôt, (1966) il perd son père et sa mère assure et assume son éducation. Il suit une scolarité irréprochable à l’école primaire publique d’Adandôkpôdji et entre, des années plus tard, au collège d’enseignement général 1 d’Abomey. Abomey, une ville qui reste la capitale historique du Bénin. Des années passent et mère et fils quittent Abomey pour s’installer à Cotonou.
Comment se déroule alors le fil de votre vie ?
L’envie de fréquenter «La véritable école de la vraie vie» motive mon long séjour passé à réussir les épreuves du choix délibéré que je fais alors en pleine conscience et en toute confiance. Je séjourne ensuite au Nigeria pour parfaire mon anglais. Ce fut une sorte d’année sabbatique riche en souvenirs bénéfiques… Deux ans après cette pause, je m’installe en France où je fréquente «L’Institut Charles V», près de la faculté de Paris 6 Jussieu, en «Langues et Civilisations Étrangères».

Et je suis reçu au concours organisé par le CNRS de S.A.R. 3 Secrétaire d’administration de la recherche/3ème classe où pour les 300 candidats admis à passer ce concours, seulement 17 furent retenus sur le plan national. J’y étais arrivé avec le rang de premier des 17 lauréats finaux en 1990 et titularisé en 1991 après une année de stage pratique. Je pris alors mes fonctions au siège situé au Quai Anatole France près du très couru «Musée d’Orsay» de Paris. Je devins ainsi un Agent de services liés à l’administration de la recherche. Les agents de ce service sont maintenant connus et désignés comme étant des «Gestionnaires de secteurs» aujourd’hui appelés des «Pôles».
Je m’étais employé, d’entrée, à ne pas faciliter aux racistes invétérés, la tâche…

La culture est une passion qui me permet de contribuer à l’effort commun qui fait que le Bénin est présent dans le cœur des Guadeloupéens, Martiniquais, Saints-Martinois, Guyanais, Haïtiens, Cubains, Brésiliens, Colombiens, Mexicains, Vénézuéliens, Équatoriens, du Honduras et j’en passe puisque la présente liste ne peut pas du tout être considérée comme étant une exhaustive…
Peut-on supposer que vous êtes un manager culturel soucieux du progrès et des performances des artistes?
Il se trouve que je sais que je ne suis pas le moins du monde doué, pour être considéré comme «Un artiste-musicien». J’ai très vite compris que les musiciens devaient être nés avec un supplément d’âme dont j’avais été privé… J’étais vraiment fasciné par leurs talents et ceci, depuis ma tendre enfance. Je crois que je suis un artisan dont «Le domaine de prédilection» est celui des vrais artistes qui ont reçu ce don dès leur naissance ! Je resterai un artisan culturel soucieux du progrès et des performances des artistes qui me reconnaîtront en tant que l’un des leurs ! Comme un parent à eux…
Quels sont les événements les plus marquants de votre carrière de manager culturel ?
Le projet culturel artistique inédit le plus marquant est celui que j’avais nommé : «Rencontres Croisées de Femmes» : «Fanm Ki Kâ » de la Guadeloupe, soit 10 chanteuses-musiciennes-joueuses de «Gwôkâ» et leurs accompagnants qui séjournèrent au Bénin durant 15 jours. Les billets d’avion mis à part, j’assumai avec joie la prise en charge de la totalité de leur séjour. J’avais eu pour ambition de les présenter au «Trio TÊRĪB» un incontestable groupe composé de trois femmes, artistes béninoises talentueuses que je considère comme le joyau national de ce domaine-là !
Qu’aviez-vous appris depuis ces premières expériences ?
J’ai compris en cette circonstance que rêver grand et user d’audace est sain. Le monde culturel est un monde aux ouvertures immenses et les champs d’exploitation sont nombreux. Je saurai toujours trouver les clés des bonnes portes ! J’avais observé que les grands hommes du monde musical et les grandissimes dames-artistes-musiciennes me comprenaient en me prêtant leur oreille et en laissant s’exprimer librement leur cœur. J’essayerai de parler plus souvent avec ceux qui me sont si accessibles. Je leur proposerai plus de projets culturels originaux voire inédits afin que plus de choses soient simples à concrétiser.
Quels sont les artistes qui vous ont le plus donné satisfaction ?
Comme artisan culturel autoproclamé, j’eus la satisfaction de demander à Lokua Kanza et 
à Meïway, 
séparément de l’attention donc de «leur temps privé» à consacrer à des artistes débutants. Ils firent tous les deux sans s’être concertés ce que je souhaitais obtenir pour des totales inconnues dans leur dur métier : Émeline Michel de Haïti, Tita N’Zébi du Gabon, Dédé Saint-Prix de la Martinique ainsi que Gbéssï Zôlàwadji du Bénin…
Des projets ?
Oui, mettre en avant «Mémoires d’Avenirs-Souvenirs Féconds» pour consolider une belle réussite : Nous oserons nous fixer des objectifs afin que nos marraines et parrains s’y retrouvent, indiscutablement. Un pont entre Haïti et le Bénin devrait être inauguré, afin que des artistes Béninois se produisent facilement sur les deux rives parce que, en amont, «Nous aurions fluidifié tous les rouages essentiels».
